Spain is a wonderful country that has so much to offer visitors. From flamenco dancers and bullfights, to the idealistic Don Quixote tilting at the windmills. Mediterranean Spain is a long strip of coastal territory that runs along the east coast of the country from Portbou on the French border to Cabo de Gata in Almeria, where the peninsula takes a sharp turn westward. Inland Spain is known as the Land of Castles for good reason, and encompasses more than half of the nation. The capital, Madrid, lies in the heart. Andalucía's history and heritage, its romantic ambiance, its traditions and folklore, and its sunny coast make it, along with Madrid, the region of Spain most visited by people making their first trip to the country. The Islands of Spain consist of two groups of islands. The Balearic Islands, off the country's eastern Mediterranean coast, are one of Europe's most popular playgrounds. The Canary Islands, off the coast of Africa, are Spain, with a very exotic touch.
